They were speedy little things indeed! I wasn't aware of it having a six-speed box in the 60's though. That was groundbreaking stuff back then. I rode my Yam R5 on a long ride, on open roads in about 1971 and my friend's T350 Suzook was almost as fast, despite that it actually displaced only 315cc. Respect, even if the Yam cornered better.
In my country T20 is 200cc not 250cc
Had one when I was 17
Very good bike, fast 6 speed 👏
Good bike at the right price!!
Great bike but a bit of a fragile gearbox

Not a B rear light?
Front mudguard looks odd. ? 🤔And paint is wrong. ?
...every time I see a picture like this I kick myself for selling my '74 GT750 L
Last year for the GT750 was 77.
I always think of the sidecars noise and smell at the Moto X. David South Australia.
A B model makes it a '77. As already mentioned, it was the last year of the GT.
Had a 1974 model, loved it ! 😍

Great motor. My 72 we hopped up pipe, bigger carb porting and airbox mods. Would dust the 250 enduros and with the konis on back and later model yamaha yz forks it was great.
Nice strong engine, shame about the brittle and trail unfriendly plastics. This engine in a DT175MX would have been the perfect combination.
Yellows a rare colour in Australia for TS185ER's . Here blue or black were most popular , white was the rarest color here but I did see a few red ones .I didnt even know they came in green . they used to be $999 ride away and were the cheapest road legal trail bike you could buy but they also sold the 2 valve yamaha XT250 bikes for a few $ more .
They really needed a low oil light as most new owners locked them up running them out of oil .

I had one in green color at that time, My first bike 🙂

My souped up ss50 honda c70 barrel and piston c90 carb , what a wheelie machine
had one identical to this in 1984 !! X reg ..still remember the number plate!! rode it into the ground.. 16 with 30mph freedom
The seat designer must have thought he was working on a bigger bike !
It looks like my X5 after it’s shrunk in the wash
My friend had one 1980. We used to go out together. I had an MZ50 and used to blow it away, only had 3 gears
Those little mopeds will always have a special place in a lot of people's hearts, unless you were there you will never understand.
Had a blue one brand new at 16 thought I was king of the road. I think this is about ten times what a paid.
Not Suzukis best effort
Isn't 4000mi. a lot for a little buzz bomb bike like that? Looks brand new tho
Restricted to 30mph... same as the GT 50... unless tampered with lol🤣🤣👌

Getting closer but the 400s redesign was not as cool as the real RD 350
350s own more drag strip records then any other INDIVIDUAL bike ever made
I have never seen a Yamaha RD 400, I don't know if I had one in France.
Was this bike actually quicker and faster than previous RD400’s???
👍Man, what a beautiful bike
Much fun on the RD’s old sure do miss those days. Power band from hell .
Lovely bike there, I saw one just like this in Christchurch, New Zealand recently.

The "White Death" is a notorious nickname for the Yamaha RD400, a legendary and powerful two-stroke motorcycle known for its intense power delivery and the challenge it posed to riders. This nickname stemmed from its high-performance characteristics, particularly its rapid acceleration and the potential for inexperienced riders to be caught off guard by its strong power band.

My first roadbike at 16 ,my Dad went to the dealers and got one in a crate ,my friends had AS1s at the time and SO didn't know there was a new model so when I opened the crate I was shocked as it was completely different to the AS1S but I really loved the wee bike .It even sounded different to the AS1 and the styling was so different. Great bike .
Electric starter because compression.
Pokey little screamers. Drink you out of house and home!!!!😆
Were the frames the same for the 250 and 350, or were they beefed up?
My first bike also at 16 in Dublin went on to own rd 250 ,350 and 400 . Love 2 strokes currently own a 1986 NS 400r .
I had the same bike,same colour,in 1972.A fast little bike,for a 125.
After riding British motorcycles the AS3 was a beautiful little machine ,loved mine to bits.went on to own RD 250 XS 500 .
To bad they can’t build those bikes today those glory days are long gone nothing like old Iron
This was like a space ship when I was a kid my brother had one and I loved looking at it ,the smell and the sound was top of the pops
When I was picking a bike for the back of my RV, this was on my list, but the CS5 was easier to find, and I'm glad I had a 200 the day I had to ride from Santa Fe to Bernalillo on I-25. If I had the room, though, I'd love an AS3 and an LS2.
My first bike. I kept it for two years then part exchanged it for a Suzuki 250GT. The dealer liked the Yamaha so much he kept it for himself.
What a beautiful little bike - same paint scheme as my old 72 DS7 250 Twin
Had a 68 - just like this one. Amazing little bikes. It could easily handle highway speeds.
Always wanted one of these after my fix and Garelli! Got a GT250 after them! Nice looking but left in the RD250s Smoke
I had exactly same bought it off my uncle in 82 ish fab looking machine I'm 61 now I was about 19 then great bike ,wish I still had it !
Peak Yamaha design - this and the Orange / black 350 (?) Iconic rear lamp design, rubber dials ring, just georgeous
Had a lot of 350 twins starting w first year YR1, but I also at one time had the 200 electric which I really liked.
Great replacement for the AS1, far better brakes too
Nippy and see off 99% of 125cc these days too
Yamaha has made so many beautiful motorcycles.
